Amita Ghosh is a psychotherapist, educator, and retreat leader whose work reflects a rare integration of Western clinical psychology and Eastern wisdom traditions. With more than three decades of experience in behavioral health, counseling, teaching, and leadership, she has built a career devoted to helping individuals, couples, and professionals achieve profound emotional healing, relational growth, and personal transformation.
Amita holds a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Her educational foundation is complemented by extensive advanced clinical and mind-body training, allowing her to bridge evidence-based psychotherapy with holistic and contemplative approaches to healing.
Her clinical specialties include EMDR trauma therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions (MBSR), and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. She has been practicing EMDR since 2000, and Gottman Method since 2017. Her work is further informed by studies in trauma and embodiment, including training by Bessel van der Kolk on the mind-body connection and trauma recovery.
What distinguishes Amita’s approach is her sophisticated blending and lived experience of Western psychology with Eastern healing traditions. Drawing from yoga psychology, Buddhist psychology, mindfulness, Ayurveda, breathwork, and contemplative practices, she creates therapeutic and educational experiences that address both emotional and embodied dimensions of healing. Her background as a certified yoga teacher, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist, and mindfulness practitioner allows her to integrate nervous system regulation, self-awareness, and relational attunement into modern psychotherapy in a grounded and clinically sophisticated way.
As the founder of her private practice, she works primarily with discerning clients seeking high-level, deeply personalized care. She also develops and leads transformational retreats and continuing education programs for psychotherapists, professional women, and helping professionals. Her career aspirations center on creating internationally respected therapeutic, educational, and retreat experiences that combine psychological depth, cultural wisdom, emotional healing, and personal evolution in a way that is both clinically rigorous and profoundly human.
